Work experience:

§As a resident in the chemical pathology department:

Starting from 02/1999 and till 02/2001 I worked as a resident in the chemical pathology department, medical research institute hospital, Alexandria University.

I had a very good experience in dealing with different laboratory analysis including blood chemistry, urine chemistry, and electrolyte balance. My job includes an intensive training on the different laboratory techniques together with an in-depth understanding of the rationale of the different laboratory tests and methods (e.g. phenol standardization using the folin Ciocaltue method, constructing a standard ELISA method for certain analytes). This part of the training also includes an in-depth understanding and practical training for the different types of laboratory techniques (e.g. different types of electrophoresis, automation and radio immune assay). Total quality management is an integral part in all techniques performed in the laboratory. I also have been trained on doing the different hematology techniques including complete blood picture, coagulation profiles and assessment of different types of hematological problems. I am also responsible for reporting the results of the inpatient and outpatient clinic and close liaison with the physicians in wards and discussing with them the diagnosis of different cases.
