6.2       Research Projects:

 

I had Participated, as a member of the research team, in the following    research projects:

 

1.            Air Pollution From Motor Vehicles in The City of Cairo. It is a four years FRCU project to study Pollution from motor vehicles.  I shared in the field measurements carried  out in the Traffic Departments to evaluate the concentration of Pollutants in the exhaust gases of    the different types of cars. Also, an engine pollution testing laboratory Using the constant volume sampling method, has been erected. It includes sampling measuring and data processing systems.  I also shared in making the specifications for the pollution monitoring  instruments to be used in Traffic Departments Inspection Stations.

 

1.                  Development of a Multi-Fuel Diesel Engines.  It was a two Years project sponsored by the USA Air Force to design an engine capable of burning different types of fuels. I was concerned with evaluating the burning rate of different fuels and fuel blends.

 

2.                  Development of Diesel Engine  Produced by Helwan Diesel Factory. It was a three years joint project between FRCU and Helwan Diesel Factory aiming at the development and improving the performance of locally produced diesel engines.

 

4.         Explosion Hazards in Transporting Fuels Through Waterways and Their Approaches.  It is a 4 years FRCU project directed to study the explosion hazards in transporting fuels in waterways such as Suez Canal.  My task was to study the detonability and detonation characteristics of the component hydrocarbons of gaseous fuels.

 

5.         Fuels, Lubricants and Greases; Their Storage Handling and Consumption in Transport in Egypt. It is a three years project sponsored by the Academy of Scientific Research to evaluate the efficiency of using fuels, lubricants and greases in transport equipment. I joined the group responsible for the study of oil degradation in different transport equipment using local fuels and operating under local environmental conditions.

     

6.       Study of railway Locomotives corrosion. .It was a two years project financed by the Egyptian Railways to study the wearing problems and oil degradation when using locally produced high sulphur fuels in locomotive diesel engines

 

7.                   Rationalization of Fuel Combustion in Boilers and Industrial Furnaces in Egypt.  It was a three years project sponsored by FRCU. During my work in the project I participated in the field study carried out to evaluate the performance and efficiency of power station boilers. I also shared in the design, construction and testing of model furnaces used to study the effect of different parameters on the efficient combustion of fuel in boilers and industrial furnaces

 

8.                  Evaluation of energy consumption in Commercial and Residential Sectors in Egypt. These were two projects sponsored by the Energy Planing Organization in Egypt.

 

 

9.                  Evaluation of the effect of Privatizaion on Energy consuption in Egypt. It was Sponsored be the Organization of Energy Planing in Egypt.

 

10.              Maximization Of the Positive Impacts Of the TOSHKA Project. It is Sponseres By the  International Bank.

 

11.              Evaluation and testing of industrial furnaces in Asfour Glass Factory. It was a four-    month project sponsored by U.S AID through CECEP/DRTCP Project

 

 

 

 

6.3     Short and Intensive Professional Courses for Engineers:

Sharing in organizing and lecturing in many short  courses in the fields of internal combustion engine maintenance, development and testing, industrial furnaces, corrosion control, air Pollution, environmental impact assessment, Pollution control, LPG safety, boiler operation and maintenance.

Besides the normal educational activities of a university staff member I had published about thirty-five papers in the field of specialization in national and international conferences and journals.
