Dr. T. W. ABOU - ARAB

Dr. Abou- Arab Obtained his BSc. , in 1969 and MSc. , in 1973 from Mechanical Power Department, Cairo University . In 1978 he received his PhD Degree from Stuttgart University in West Germany. His PhD Subject Was the Development and Validation of Turbulence Models for Confined Swirling Flows. He has Worked as Assistant-, Associate - Professor at Many University in the Middle East and in the United States. In 1989 he was promoted to the Rank of Professor at Cairo University. He Was on Leave from Cairo University and Was Working in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Yarmouk Then Jordan University for Sci. & Tech, and in KFUPM in. Saudi-Arabia. Prof. Abou- Arab has Many Years of Teaching and Consulting Experience in Engineering System especially in the Areas of Thermal and Applied Fluid Sciences. He Authored and co- authored more than 95 Articles and three Reference Books in these Areas in addition to two text books one in thermodynamics and the other one in Statistics & Information. Many of his Papers are Published in First Class Journals, Such as the Journal of Fluids Engineering (ASME Transactions), Physics of Fluids, Exp. Fluid, Applied Scientific Research, Fuel, Journal of Fluid Mechanics, etc.

The Scientific Contributions of Prof. Abou-Arab are mainly in the subjects of Turbulence Models and their Validation for Both Single and Multiphase Reacting and non-Reacting Flows, and in the Experimental Investigation of Some Complex Shear Flows Using Laser-Doppler and Hot-Wire Anemometer. In Addition to the Above Subjects, In. 1985 He Became Interested in The Study of Flow-Induced Phenomenon, e. g., Vibration, Oscillation and the impact of these phenomena on Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer. He has supervised more than 35 PhD and MSc thesis. He awarded About 12 Research Grants and Projects from Several Funding Agencies in the Middle East Area, Europe and the United States. These Projects and Grants Were in the Area of Air Pollution, Database, Explosion, Fire Hazard, Multiphase Flows, Water & Wastewater Systems, Fuels and Lubricants, Slurry Combustion Flow in Furnaces and Flow in Curved Ducts and Novel Energy System Development., and Water and Wastewater System. In 1989, he obtained the State Prize in Engineering Science and the State Award 1st Class from A. R. Egypt and his Name is listed as Distinguished Researcher and Leader in Several Biographies. He is Also Member of Several Professional, Local, and International Societies. In Addition to his Academic Activity at Cairo University Prof. Abou-Arab is working as a Consultant for Ministry of Public Works and Water Resources and Ministry of Housing and Public Utilities Ministry of Culture Ministry of Health & Population Ministry of communication and Information Technology as Well as Several Other Organization, Authorities and Companies in Private, Governmental and Public Sectors.
